The Fountain of Youth...for Your Brain

In an earlier entry I was preaching about sunscreen and it's anti-aging benefits. Suncreen may help you look young, but what keeps your mind young? As we get older, we get settled into our ways of thinking and less accepting of change. We turn into the old, stubborn people that we said we'd never become. So why is it that some older people are extra stubborn and unchanging and some aren't? The answer has been right in front of my face, yet I never gave it a thought until now. People who stay intellectually young are the ones who keep learning new things to sharpen their brains. For example, doctors; they have to keep being tested and learn about new medical technologies and medications. If they didn't keep learning, they'd be out of a job. Along with exercise and healthy eating habits, and sunscreen, read a few books every month keep your mind sharp. Not much of a reader? Puzzle games help sharpen the brain too! Sudoku, anyone?

P.S. Happy birthday to my brother, Tommy! Woohoo!

Laugh Now, Laugh Later!

Hey, Hey, Hey everybody! So sorry about the delay in updates. My site's been having some technical difficulties, but I'm glad to say that they're fixed!

Anyway, I hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving weekend cuz I sure as hell did. My brother, Tommy, and sis-in-law, Hong Yun, came from Santa Clara to visit. They also brought some new family members along...BUNNIES! They have two of the cutest rabbits in the world. One is named Arnold and the other is named Poofy. There's a webcam hooked up to their cage so you can watch them when they're not running around the house! On their way down to Los Angeles, someone called Hong Yun asking where the rabbits were! Looks like Arnold and Poofy have some fans. You can check out the Rabbit Cam for yourself at Tommy's site, Dodoskido.com

Anyway, we had a giant turkey dinner ordered from Ralph's! Yes, we ordered our traditional turkey dinner from a market. Why? Because it was cheaper than making it ourselves (it was only forty bucks for an entire traditonal Thanksgiving dinner) and waaay easier to prepare. Just heat, put on fancy plates and bowls, serve, enjoy! Our Thanksgiving dinner was damn good! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving too!

If you didn't have a great holiday weekend or are feeling blue today then this is sure to perk up your mood. Have a laugh with a pink kitty and green bunny. Hoops and Yoyo are two crazy cartoon characters with their own online animated series, ecards, and lots more. So, brighten your mood and even a loved ones mood by sending them a funny ecard! Just click the banner and get ready to laugh! Have a happy day!

Be You, Do Watcha Do

Being a Los Angeles native, I know for sure that looks are everything (of course they shouldn't be). We either have to look like a celebrity and/or strive to be one. With a lot of luck and great plastic surgeon, you might be able to look like your favorite celebrity, but you will never be them. Face it people, THE ONLY PERSON YOU CAN BE IS YOURSELF. Say it with me now, THE ONLY PERSON YOU CAN BE IS YOURSELF. If you try to be someone others expect you to be, you'll never find who you truely are. So, quit worrying about what others think of you. If you are around negative people, well, then stop being around them (duh!). There are plenty of people out there who like/love you for who you are. So, stand tall, smile big, and take care of yourself; be happy with who you are and work with what you've got (because you'll definitely miss those nice assests once they're gone) ;-)

Confidence 101

Some tips on how to boost self confidence...

1. If you only learn one thing about life, you should learn that it goes on. So, don't beat yourself up so hard. The more you dwell on your mistakes, the less time you have for new and great opportunites.

2. Try something new. Go to a new restaurant or even sign up for that class you've been interested in taking but never had the guts to do so. If you like it, great; if you hate it, well, at least you won't have to wonder about it anymore.

3. Be persistent. Keep working to reach your goals. If anyone says you can't do it, tell them to kiss your ass (in a more polite way, of course).

4. Exercise. It is strenuous, but you'll feel great afterward. It also boosts your metabolism. If your just starting out, aim for frequency instead of duration. Try starting with 15 to 20 minutes four times per week. As you get stronger, increase the duration and frequency.

5. Stand up straight! You may not feel confident, but if you look like you are, you'll eventually feel like you are. Oh, and you'll automatically grow about an inch taller! :)
